Privacy Policy

ManhwaShelf ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect across our app, browser extension, and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. If you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple-issued identifier, and your email address only if you choose to share it (which may be an Apple private-relay address).
• Anonymous device identifier. So you can use the app without creating an account, we generate a random device identifier stored on your device (in the Keychain) and linked to an anonymous account on our servers. It is not tied to your real-world identity unless you later sign in.
• Library data. The URLs, titles, chapter numbers, and cover images of the manhwa you save, so we can store and sync your library across your devices.
• Sync metadata. Timestamps and revision numbers used to keep your library in sync.
• Usage events. A small set of key product events logged directly on our servers — for example, first app launch, first series saved, and account sign-in. These are stored alongside your library data, used only to understand and improve the product, and never shared with third parties.

Analytics

We log a small set of product events directly in our own database on Cloudflare — the same infrastructure that stores your library. This data is used solely to understand how the product is used and to improve it. It is not shared with third parties and is not used for advertising.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide, store, and sync your personal reading library across devices.
• To let you use the app anonymously and to authenticate you if you sign in with Apple.
• To understand how the product is used, diagnose problems, and improve features and usability.
• To measure the effectiveness of our marketing and website.
• To protect the security and integrity of the service.

On-Device Storage

The app uses on-device storage (including the iOS Keychain) to store your authentication tokens and anonymous device identifier securely. This data never leaves your device except as part of the normal sync process with our servers.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate ManhwaShelf, and only as needed to provide the service:

• Apple — for Sign in with Apple authentication.
• Cloudflare — for hosting, storage, content delivery, and analytics. All data including usage events is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.

Data Storage, Security, and International Transfer

Your data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure and processed by our providers, including in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and access tokens are stored securely in your device's Keychain. If you access ManhwaShelf from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

Sign in with Apple

Authentication is handled entirely by Apple. We only store the Apple-issued user identifier needed to associate your library with your account, plus your email address if you choose to share it. We never see your Apple ID password.

Browser Extension

The ManhwaShelf browser extension reads the URL and page title of the tab you are actively reading on manhwa sites, solely to track your chapter progress and save the series you choose to add. It does not read your other tabs or collect general browsing history.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account section in the app; deletion is permanent. You may also contact us to request deletion. Aggregated or de-identified analytics that cannot reasonably be linked to you may be retained.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any of these rights — including opting out of analytics or session recording — please contact us and we will respond as required by applicable law. We do not "sell" personal information as that term is commonly defined.

Children's Privacy

ManhwaShelf is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will indicate significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of ManhwaShelf after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
